Guy Lacy Jr.

AMERICUS — Mr. Guy Lacy Jr., 87, of 2023 Hooks Mill Rd., Leslie, died late Monday evening, March 27, 2006, at Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Leslie City Cemetery with the Rev. William Hall officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and Mike Thomas. The family will receive friends at the residence of Layne and Janis Lacy, 2129 Brady Rd.

Mr. Lacy was born the son of the late Osceola Guy Lacy Sr. and Lela Payne Lacy on Nov. 14, 1918, in Pascagoula, Miss. Mr. Lacy was employed with Marlette Manufacturing Industries formerly of Americus from their beginning to closing and then was a part-time security guard with Cooper Lighting until his retirement. He was of the Methodist faith and was an avid outdoorsman. Mr. Lacy was a veteran of W.W.II serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mr. Lacy is survived by: his beloved wife, Nelcine Deriso Lacy of Leslie, one son and daughter-in-law, Layne Lacy and Janis of Leslie; three grandchildren, Kim Morgan of Albany, Terri Jones of Americus and Ryan Lacy of Leslie; three great-grandchildren, Ben Goodin of Leslie, Jeremy Morgan of Albany and Cody Jones of Americus; a great, great-granddaughter, Destiny Goodin. Also surviving is a close friend, Erie Calvin.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Americus and Sumter County Inc., P.O. Box 1434, Americus, GA 31709. Aldridge Funeral Services, 612 Reese Park, is in charge of these arrangements.



George Cunningham Mann

MACON COUNTY — Mr. George Cunningham Mann, 59, formerly of Americus, died on Saturday morning, March 25, 2006, in Magnolia Manor of Macon County. Private memorial services will be conducted in Sumterville, Fla. where he spent his happiest years. The Rev. William E. Harris will officiate.

Born in Gainesville, Fla., on Dec. 9, 1946, he was reared by his mother, the late Esther Cunningham Mann and his stepfather, the late William Mitchell Mann. He was a Baptist. Survivors include two sisters and brothers-in-law, Beth and William E. “Bill” Harris of Americus and Marian and David Kelley of Douglasville.

Hancock Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Susan S. Patterson

MILLEDGEVILLE — Mrs. Susan S. Patterson, 91, of Milledgeville, formerly of Americus, died late Monday, March 20, 2006, at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville.

A native of Washington, Ga., Mrs. Patterson was born Nov. 28, 1914, a daughter of the late Harry Mershon Smith and Susan Mary Smith. She was a retired X-ray technician and for four years, was a sergeant in the Army Medical Corps. She was a member of the D.A.R. and the Three L Club in Americus and was a member of the First Methodist Church of Americus.

Survivors include three nieces, Susan Pool of Kingsport, Tenn., Joan Winter of Atlanta and Lynn Roberts of Winder and a nephew, Wilfred B. Smith of Albany. Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30, from the graveside at Oak Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Patterson’s great nephew, the Rev. George E. Wilson, will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Hancock Funeral Home, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the League of the Good Samaritan, c/o Magnolia Manor, 2001 S. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709.
