Lt. Cedric Duncan selected training coordinator

MONTEZUMA — Lt. Cedric Duncan of the Montezuma Police Department was recently selected as the trainingcCoordinator for the Georgia Police Accreditation Coalition Inc. (GPAC)

The mission of the GPAC is to provide its members with professional leadership in meeting organizational objectives regarding national accreditation and/or state certifications. GPAC also strive to ensure that all of it's members served in a professional, ethical and equitable manner and to aspire to increase the level of law enforcement professionalism among law enforcement agencies throughout the state of Georgia. Duncan’s duties as training coordinator will be to coordinate all training classes at GPAC regular meetings and at its yearly conference.

Montezuma Police Chief Eric Finch stated, "I am extremely proud of Lt. Duncan for being selected to this post. It speaks volumes for our department to have someone on staff who will be assigning training for GPAC and it membership."

Duncan currently serves as the professional service manager of the Montezuma Police Department which handles internal affairs, certification and training. He led the Montezuma Police Department to certification in 2005, and the department completed itz 2009 Mock in January and is awaiting its final on-site date.

Currently, the Montezuma Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Region 3 office are the only two departments within the Southwestern Judicial Circuit certified, according to the Georgia Chiefs of Police website.

Finch also said, "Lt. Duncan has been working hard over the last year to make sure that all 118 of our certification folders are filled with three years of documentation which is needed for the re-certification on-site to make sure that the officers and the department are operating within its policies which in turn reduce lawsuits and give the officers the knowledge on how to perform their jobs to the best of their abilities within the scope of policies.”

Duncan is the son of Ola Turner and the late Eddie Duncan of Montezuma. He graduated from Macon County High School and has completed the general instructor’s course, supervisor's course, management module, executive module and serves as a certification assessor.
