AMERICUS — Americus

First United Methodist Church

A Valentine Dinner is at 7 p.m. Feb. 8 at the church featuring fruited salad, pork loin medallions, wild mushroom rice, green beans amandine, and strawberries and creme confection. Tickets are $20 each. Entertainment is by the GSW Chamber Singers and the church’s soloists and instrumentalists. Childcare provided in church nursery by reservation (infant to age 3 at no charge; 3K and up $5 per child and includes activities and a meal). Sponsored by the Music Committee and Worship Arts Ministries of the church.



St. John A.M.E. Church

Everyone is invited to the Family and Friends Day celebration at 11:15 a.m. Sunday.



Campbell Chapel A.M.E. Church

The 154th church anniversary sermon at 4 p.m. Feb.10 at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, 132 Bumphead Road in Americus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The church is selling hot fish dinners Saturday at Campbell Chapel Worship Center, 429 N. Jackson St. Prices are $6.50 for a dinner and $3.50 for sandwiches. Drinks are included. A Gospel Extravaganza is at 5 p.m. Feb. 9 at Good News Ministries on N. Mayo St. Admission is $5.



Zion Hope Baptist Church

The Pastor’s Anniversary is celebrated at 7 p.m. Feb. 5-7. On Tuesday, Pastor Larry Sims from Union Tabernacle Church is speaking. On Wednesday, Pastor Charles Carr from Bethlehem and Jerusalem Church is speaking. On Thursday, Bishop Melvin McCluster of Friendship Church is speaking. At 11 a.m. Feb. 20 Pastor Larry Franklin Jr. of Nazarene Church of God in Christ is preaching.



New St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church

The 51st ushers’ anniversary is observed 4 p.m. Feb.10. Speaker is the Rev. Michael Walker.



Plains

Rylander Church

A gospel sing is at 7 p.m. Saturday, featuring Three in Chords.



Lebanon Baptist Church

The Christian Family Cluster Circle Ministry hosts a Valentine Extravaganza at 7 p.m. Feb. 8. The main focus is HIV, teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, drugs, bullying, healthy living and wellness. Well qualified persons have been invited to spear head activities and discussions on these topics. Because of the nature of these topics youngsters ages 12 years and older are invited. A spaghetti supper will be served.



Bethlehem Baptist Church

The Youth Department observes a Black History Program during the 10:45 a.m. Sunday worship services.
