AMERICUS —
Cornerstone mission team goes to Taiwan
On December 8, 2012 six members of the Cornerstone Church Mission Team of Americus left for North East Taiwan. This Mission Team joined Richard and Jessie Roberts of North East Taiwan. The Roberts have lived in Taiwan for seven years and they minister in the North East Taiwan Christian Church. They Minister in three villages in Taiwan. The names of the villages are Aodie --Fullon and Dasi. The Roberts are members of the Cornerstone Church in Americus. This Mission team fed 469 people. They renovated some buildings by sound proofing the walls fixing roofs putting in doors and renovating a kitchen. The six members of the team that went were as follows: Elaine Morrison of Americus, David Theiss, Don and Carol TenBensel and Chuck and Kay Sherwood all of Ellaville. This team always keeps other within their hearts.
Betty L.
Barwick comes to sister’s home
We are all so proud to hear that Betty L. Barwick has gotten out of the hospital and Magnolia Manor and has come to her sister. Mary Nan Pilcher's home until she gets stronger and better before going home. Mary Nan said that Betty arrived on January 3, 2013. She had open heart surgery and was in and out of the hospital and Magnolia Manor for about 4 weeks. Mary Nan said that she seems to be doing much better. She's walking some with her walker outside. She also has Home Health Care and is surely improving. Knowing Betty, she will be jumping with joy real soon. Keep Betty in your Prayers.

Baptist Church honored Mac Poole
Ellaville Baptist Church Honored Mac Poole, who served as Minister of Music for 41 years. Mac Retired on December 30, 2012. He was honored with a "dinner on the grounds"followed by an afternoon of music which provided congregational singing, choir specials and local talent within the church, including Lee and Melonie Mitchell, Brittany Watson Burke, Clarence Welch, The Praise Team, The Grimsley's and The Missionaries. Mac is a very talented pianist and organist and presented a mini concert on both the piano and organ. Mac was called as Minister of Music soon after receiving an English and Music Degree from Georgia Southwestern College and doing his 41 years tenure as music director he has been instrumental in directing adult, youth and children's choirs helped in the formation of The Missionaries a men’s singing group that is still active today. He has been involved with the music in AWANA and Vacation Bible School He has directed at least 40 Christmas cantatas and many Easter musicals. He had been responsible for music for many revivals and has touched many lives with his beautiful organ and piano music at weddings, and funerals. He also was minister of the youth for several years. A special guest speaker during the afternoon was the Rev. John F. Carr who was pastor of the Ellaville Baptist Church when Mac was called in 1971. Rev. Carr is retired and lives with his wife Nancy in Brunswick. During the afternoon, Mac received several gifts from the church Linda Adams local artist painted and framed a beautiful replica of the church, This was a special gift from the Choir and it was presented to Mac by Glenn Kemp a special proclamation was framed and presented to Mac by Eddie Watson. A basket of letters and cards were presented to him as well by Sharon Watson, and a Monetary gift was presented to Mac by Joe Tidd Chairman of the Deacons. Mac will always be remembered in our community. He had conducted many Christmas cantatas with the Baptist and Methodist Churches here in town. He touched so many people with his talent of music. The Baptist Church and the whole community will surely miss Mac.
A family
member comes home for Christmas
On Saturday December 22, 2012 Janet Perguson came home from Duluth to be with her mother Mildred Dobbs and other family members while celebrating Christmas Holidays. They had Christmas dinner with Dan and Brenda Todd at their home here in Ellaville. They also visited her sister Gail Smith in Perfect Car. After all the celebrating of Christmas and being with her mother and seeing all of the other family members, Janet returned to her home in Duluth on Christmas afternoon. It's always special when children come home for visits with their mothers and family.
Child’s wish organization held in Schley County.
During the weekend of January 4, 2013 a child’s wish was held in Schley County. This special event was organized by Douglas Jamieson of Ellaville. Jamieson is the Scout Master of Troop 24 here in Ellaville, and he keeps boys close to his heart. This is the second year that "Rock Hill Hunting Preserve" hosted the annual "United Special Sportmen Alliance" [USSA] deerhunt for physically challenged children recovering from cancer, Spinabifia and a child born without legs. These boys (along with their daddys granddaddy’s and older brothers) arrived on Friday January 4 to enjoy a weekend in the great outdoors. These boys were from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. They had the chance to hunt Friday afternoon and Saturday morning and afternoon. All five boys bagged themselves their first deer even taking home a 8 point buck and 4 does. When the boys were not hunting they enjoyed being with some of the Boy Scouts of Troop 24 [Ellaville]. These boys practiced archery with guidance from members of the Traditional Bowhunters of Georgia and shot 22 rifles under the watchful eyes of many helpful adults. Douglas said they are so grateful for the opportunity to work with USSA and the courageous boys that they sent to us. This is a non-profit national wish granting charity that specializes in sending critically ill and disabled youth and disable veterans on the out door adventure that gives them something to look forward to and help sustain them in their time of need. USSA has made a significant impact on thousands of children and disabled Veterans lives. There are many people who put in lots of long hours to make these hunts a success and Douglas said he does not want to leave anyone out. But a special Thank You needs to go to several different groups, Rusty and Mary Taylor for providing the facilities and land to hunt on for these boys. The Traditional Bowhunters of Georgia (archery guidance and cooking) Zack Bivens, Pyne Green and Justin Rockenhaus for cleaning all of the deer for the boys to carry home . Donnie Poole Justin Renfroe Ty Bivins and Boudreaux DannyBeckwith dog for tracking service and anyone else that stopped by for moral support but most of all Douglas said he wants to Thank God for looking after these special boys and sending them to us for the weekend. Douglas said that they are looking forward to another hunt next year.
