Wins quilt
Congratulations go out to Melba Peek Welch for winning the lovely quilt that the senior citizens raffled off at their annual yard sale in the Ellaville City Center. The Seniors raised close to $400 on this raffle.
This was a hand-made quilt of different fall colors in squares, and the seniors themselves quilted this lovely piece of art.
Congratulations Melba.

Surprised son, pastor
The Rev. Robert and Joyce Postom were invited to attend their sons surprise Appreciation Day for the associate pastor Sunday on Oct. 11 at First Community Church in Douglas.
Their son, the Rev. Chris Postom, did not know about this special event honoring him on this day. Robert (his Daddy) said that the family did not enter the church until they had started the Sunday morning service, which was a big honor for Chris as well as Robert himself.
The Rev. Robert Postom, was asked to preach the morning worship service. The way that they surprised Chris was that Robert and Joyce left Ellaville on Saturday morning, and went down to their daughter’s (Missy Lee) home in Alma, where they spent Saturday and Saturday night before attending the special service for Chris' church n Sunday. The whole family attended this special event.
While in Alma on Saturday, their granddaughter was in a cheerleaders competition, so they all went over to Fitzgerald for the District cheerleading competition, and while there, guess who they ran into? The Schley County's High School cheerleaders, who had come for the same event. What a small world.
Congratulation to Rev. Chris Postom for being honored as his church’s associate pastor.

Enters quilt in State Fair
If you remember about two weeks ago, I put in the paper that Lettie Royal had entered her quilts in the State National Fair in Perry. Lettie did not place, but she got a lot of votes, and just missed getting the People’s Choice Award.
Lettie’s niece went over and got their things out of the fair and Ashli said that the lady that checked her out with Lettie's quilts said that they were very impressed with her quilts, and told her about how close she was to missing the big People’s Choice Award.
Don't worry Lettie; enter next year and you will do well, but we all here at home know how talented you are, so we are very happy that you entered your lovely quilts in this year’s fair. We're still very proud of you.
