ELLAVILLE — Ellaville-Schley County will be having a Community-wide Revival from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14.

This special event will be held on the football field in front of the Schley County Board of Education Building unless we have bad weather, and everyone will meet in the Old Gym downtown.

This revival is being sponsored by 14 churches throughout our commuinty.

These are the churches and pastors that will be participating in the revival: Ebernezer Baptist Church, the Rev. Bryan Bentley; County Line United Methodist Church, the Rev. Mark Kinservik; Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church, the Rev. Kevin Clotfelter; Unity Church, the Rev.Clifford Braxton; Ebenezer Baptist Church, the Rev. William Laster; The Church International, the Rev. Jessie Carson; Hispanic Mission, the Rev. Barrigan; Mount Zion Baptist, the Rev. Alford Dixon; Hopewell United Methodist Church, the Rev. Peter Vermeulen; Concord United Methodist Church, the Rev. Peter Vermeulen; Ellaville United Methodist Church, the Rev. Robert Poston; Ellaville Baptist Church, the Rev. Ben Foxworth; Associational Evangelist Team, the Rev. Andy Tauton; and Mount Carmel Baptist Church of Buena Vista.

This will be a revival throughout the day, along with special music, free food and fellowship. Bring your lawn chairs for the day. Each and everyone is invited to come and bring the whole family to see God's work in our community as churches come together in Christian love and unity.

Schley County Courthouse

Have you been to town recently and noticed our Courthouse? It really brings back old memories of when the courthouse was red. The bricks were red 55 years ago, and stayed that way until 1972.

There will be some people who won’t like the color, but these are newcomers to our community that did not see the courthouse when it was red, or either people too young to remember the red courthouse.

The company that is painting the courthouse are also repairing the windows where the wood has gotten so rotten that it needs replacing.

The color is called brick red and is trimmed in white like the old one use to be.

They started on Oct. 14. I don't know exactly when they will finish due to the weather, but they should be through in about two or three weeks.

This will really draw attention again to our courthouse, and just think what the Christmas lights will look on the courthouse this Christmas.



Turkey Shoot

The Cross Roads Enterprise will be sponsoring its 2nd Semi-Annual Turkey Shoot starting at 9 a.m. Nove.r 14 at the Schley County Veterans Memorial Park (old Legion Pond). The location in North U.S. Highway 19 about five miles north of Ellaville. Watch for signs and turn left off Highway 19.

Those attending will be shooting targets. It will cost $5 for the entrance fee to participate. You will get 10 shots per round.

There will be a Special Cheaters Round; for this round you will have to bring your own shells. All other rounds will be provided with shells once you pay.

Winners will receive gift certificates from IGA.

There will be hambugers, hotdogs and soft drinks available.

Get your family and come on out to this special turkey shoot, and see how close you can come to hitting the target or bull’s eye.



3-year-old wins at Ga. National Fair

Little Katelyn Carney, only three years old, wins at the Georgia National Fair. She is the daughter of LeAnna Wilder of Ellaville and Terry Carney of Montezuma.

Katelyn participated in the Miniature Horse Show on Oct. 13 at the Georgia National Fair in Perry.

Katelyn was the youngest to participate in the Minaiture Horse Show. She showed off her favorite horse, Nikki, in the halter and pleasure show. The highlight, and best part of the day, was the Costume Contest. Katelyn and Nikki her horse were all dressed up like zebras. Katelyn’s grandmother said that she rode as if she had been riding for years as she showed off her costume.

Well, guess what she won the Costume Contest?

The last event of the day was the cart show. Nikki was hooked up to a little cart and she pulled Katelyn and her mother LeAnna. I was told that the audience really loved Katelyn.

When the Master of Ceremony announced that the people in the audience could come down and have a ride, Katelyn looked at her mother and said "You can get out now , I just know that someone else wants to ride with me ." This just like a three-year-old.

Nikki, the horse, is owned by Michelle Puryear from Bryomville.

Katelyn’s costume was made by her grandmother, Vicki Wilder.

We might have a Rodeo Queen here in Schley County.



Community Thanksgiving Day meal

This will be the second time that the community will be having the annual Thanksgiving Day meal. I'm just reminding you again. I realize that I had put this into the paper last week. We need olunteers to help us out with food, cakes, pies, beverages, and volunteers to serve this meal. Will you please sign up to be a volunteer or to eat Thanksgiving dinner by Nov. 19?

This will be held in the Ellaville City Center . Meals will be served from noon until 2 p.m.

This is for people that don't have anyone to be with or need a real good meal or if you are unable to get out of the house and need a meal, just contact the Senior Citizens Center and we will be glad to deliver your plate to you, or if you wish you can pick up your meal, or just come on down and eat with us.

New business opening

A new business will be opening here this week — Grace Unlimited Love Gifts. They will be located 109 E. Oglethorpe St., across the side of IGA in front of the old Brady House.

They will be having their Grand Opening at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The regular business hours will be from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
