Celebrated fourth birthday

On Oct. 31, Little Maelyn Anthony celebrated her fourth birthday with a costume party at her home on U.S. Highway 19 south of Ellaville. Maelyn is the daughter of Michael and Gina Anthony of Ellaville.

The party was held in the backyard of her parents’ home. What a lovely afternoon under the southern sun to have such a great party.

The theme for the party was "Carnival” with children’s games and decorations of all kinds.

There was a “petting zoo,” starring Fluffy, Maelyn and Austin's (Maelyn's 9-year-old brother) white pet rabbit.

Balloons and signs reading “Anthony's Fairgrounds” greeting all the young guests as they arrived and entered the driveway. Popcorn, snow cones, candy apples, ice cream and cupcakes were served to all the guests.

Maelyn was dressed as “Dorothy” of the Wizard of Oz, completed with Toto, who was carried in a basket.

All guests were costumed as well. What a special day for Maelyn and her guest. Maelyn is the granddaughter of Mickey and Stephanie Holloway of Ellaville, Donald and Pat Anthony of Box Springs and Lynn De Francisco of Atlanta.

Attended City Council meeting

On Nov. 9, Nancy McMath Young of Ellaville and Allison Slocumb of Columbus, attended the November City Council meeting. They presented the city with a plan to organize a Ellaville-Schley County Historical Preservation Commission. I'm very interested in getting this started, said Young.

The City seemed to be very interested in this Historical Preservation Commission as this was presented to them. They will be meeting once again with the City and County after the first of the new year to get the action moving on preserving our history for the City and County.

Decorating for Thanksgiving

I'm sure that all of you are getting your menus made out and your decorations ready for your home for Thanksgiving Day.

Well I only decorate my table each year, not the house, and I'll tell you what I'm planning for my table this year.

First I'm using fall colors to decorate my table. I am using a dark green linen table cloth with burgundy candles in my candelabrum. For the centerpiece I'm using a gold or burgundy charger with candles, as well as fall leaves and berries. If I can find some very small pumpkins as I did last year I will cut the stem out and place tea candles inside each pumpkin, and place the pumpkins at each plate setting.

I will use the same color chargers at each plate setting that I use for my center piece. I will use burgundy or dark green linen napkins to really highlight the fall Thanksgiving Day table.
