Nancy M. Young: Nov. 24, 2009
Special verse
"We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give."
Happy Thanksgiving
We are wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving surrounded by those you love. May this special day remind you always to count your blessings, big and small, that the Lord has restored upon you. Always treasure the moments that your family shares together.
Happy Thanksgiving, and God bless each one of you. — Your friends, Bobby, Nancy and Frederick Young
Christmas lights
The Ellaville Christmas lights will be turned on Thanksgiving night. There will not be a ceremony as we have had in the past, but you can still get your family together and ride downtown and see the pretty lights.
Turning on the lights really get your spirits up for Christmas, when you see them on. This marks the beginning of Christmas.
Christmas Parade
The annual Christmas Parade will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 1.
Guess who will be there?
You’re right — Santa Claus will be in the parade as well as the United States Marine Corps Band from Albany.
So make your plans for 6 p.m. next Tuesday night to come and enjoy the parade, and bring your children of all ages, young and old.
Santa Claus will be in the park after the parade unless the weather is bad and then he will be inside the Ellaville City Center. The Marine Band will also play in the park after the parade unless the weather is bad.
So come to the park, and enjoy the music and Santa Claus.
Furlough day
The Schley County Department of Family Children Services and the Family Connection will be closed Wednesday, and will be closed on Thanksgiving Day as well.
Surprise guest
On Saturday, Nov. 14, the Youngs were surprised to have as their guest, for about two hours, was Darren Bryant of Perry. Darren is a former neighbor of the Youngs.
Darren and Frederick were good friends growing up as little boys; they are the same age. He also went to see his daddy while here in Ellaville.
It's always a pleasure to have a friend to think of you, and that will take time to come by and see us.
Community Revival
I've heard nothing but real good things since Nov. 14 about the Community Revival. They said that there was a big crowd there and how much people really enjoyed this special day. I was also told that they are going to have one again next year.
There were 12 local churches that participated in this special event.
Let me hear from you
Let me know about your Thanksgiving and if you had guests or if you went out of town. Please share with us your holidays and excitement that you had with family and friends.
