AMERICUS — Americus Fire and Emergency Services

• A breakdown of a light ballast was reported on West Lamar Street. An electrical short was reported in a basement.

• Shorted electrical equipment was reported on Grantham Street. The occupant smelled burning in her electrical panel box, and had been having problems with electrical outlets and her breaker for a month. Firefighters found a faulty breaker, but no smoke or fire. Firefighters advised the occupant to contact her landlord.

• Firefighters assisted EMS on Lafayette and Railroad streets.

• A false alarm was reported on West Forsyth Street.



Americus Police Department

Arrest

• Tasha Lashonda Burnes, 21, of 900 South Georgia Parkway, Americus was arrested on an outstanding warrant, and was released on time served.



Incidents

• Kidnapping was reported on Reddick Drive.

• Burglary was reported on South Jackson Street. A Zenith 19-inch color TV worth $170 and a Nintendo game console worth $120 were taken.

• A missing person was reported on Felder Street.



Sumter County Fire Department

• A downed power line across the roof of a barn was reported on U.S. Highway 19 South. Firefighters cut the power, extinguished the fire and contacted Georgia Power Co.

• Firefighters responded to a report of light gray smoke coming from a building where there was no fire visible on U.S. Highway 19 South.

• Firefighters responded to a report of light gray smoke showing in a residence on Packing House Road. Firefighters investigated, and found a kitchen fire. They extinguished the fire, salvaged and overhauled the scene. It started with an unattended pot on the stove.

• Firefighters assisted EMS on South Georgia Tech Parkway.



Sumter County Sheriff’s Office

Arrests

• Roderick Arnett, 31, of 1717 LaFayette St., Americus is charged with probation violation, and was jailed.

• Steven Clyde Pritchard, 30, of 247-H Ga. Highway 49 South, Americus is charged with reckless driving, reckless conduct and cruelty to children, and was jailed.

• Edgar Ivan Ramirez, 21, of 113-B Sun valley Drive, Americus is charged with aggravated stalking, and was jailed.



Incidents

• Thefts were reported on Briarpatch Circle, at the corner of District Line and Ed Carson roads and at Southeast Railcar on Roy Vaughn Road.

• Falsifying an identification document was reported at Sumter Bank and Trust Co.

• A domestic disturbance was reported on Ga. Highway 49 South.

• An animal complaint was reported on Ga. Highway 30 West.



U.S. Marshals’ Service

Arrests

• Gene Renard Robinson, 42, of Fortson is being held in the Sumter County Jail for the U.S. Marshals’ Service.

• Travis Orujan Robinson, 32, of Albany is being held in the Sumter County Jail for the U.S. Marshals’ Service.
