Arrests

• Dennis Lee Hamilton, 46, of 120 B Bozeman Circle, Americus is charged with battery and driving while unlicensed, and was jailed.

• Joe Lewis Hawkins, 58, of 211 Hosanna Circle, Americus is charged with probation violation, and was jailed.

• A juvenile was arrested for being unruly.  

• Samuel Thomas, age unknown, of 130 Lonnie Lane, Americus is charged with theft by shoplifting (first offense), and was jailed.

• Brook Wheeler, age unknown, of 714 7th Avenue N.E., Dawson is charged with removing or affixing a license plate for the purpose of concealing the identity of a vehicle, and was jailed.

Arrests

• Recordo Cortez Brown, 22, of 902 June Drive, Montezuma is charged with speeding in excess of maximum limits (state speed and zone limits) and passing in a no passing zone, and was jailed.

•Anthony West, 23, of 709 Plant St., Montezuma is charged with probation violation and simple battery, and was jailed.



Sumter County      Fire Department

• Firefighters responded to a call on District Line Road and found an activated alarm. There were no signs of smoke or fire on the scene. A deceased person was found, and authorities were notified.

• Firefighters assisted EMS on Ga. Highway 308.

Arrests

• Melissa K. Jordan, 42, of 242-B Lasco Harvey Road, Americus is charged with probation violation, and was jailed.

• Wayne Barnett Ruff, 51, of 146 Rainbow Terr., Americus is charged with disorderly conduct, terroristic threats and acts and interference with government property, and was jailed.

• Amy Michelle Sawyer, 34, of 264 Memorial Mile, Americus is charged with probation violation, and was jailed.

• Otis Reid Sims, 37, of 653-C Small Piece Road, Americus is charged with probation violation, and was jailed.

• Eddie Dean Waters, 38, of 150 Fox Stephens Road, Americus is charged with civil contempt, and was released with fines paid.



Incidents

• Horses were reported on Hooks Mill Road, Lee Street and McMath Mill Road, and were returned to a pen.

• An alarm activation was reported on Edgewood Drive.

• Theft was reported on U.S. Highway 19 North.

• A semi-truck was assisted with the removal of a trailer from the semi-truck on U.S. Highway 280 East.

• A deceased person was reported on Rainbow Terrace.

• A domestic disturbance was reported on Ga. Highway 228, Tallent Store Road and Rainbow Terrace.

• Theft by taking was reported on Sam Hill Dog Leg Road.

• A fire alarm activation was reported on District Line Road.

• A suspicious person was reported on Buttercup Lane.

• A domestic disturbance was reported on Ginger Drive and Wiggins Road.

• Disorderly conduct was reported on Small Piece Road.

• An accident involving a deer was reported on East Sherwood Drive.
