AMERICUS — Americus Fire and Emergency Services

• Firefighters drove up to a wreck on Crawford Street shortly after it had occurred. Central dispatch was notified, and the Americus Police Department and EMS had already been notified by central dispatch. Firefighters assisted one patient until EMS arrived. All patients refused transport.  

• A stove fire was reported on Fulton Street. Upon arrival, the fire had been extinguished with salt. The fire was contained within the stove and there appeared to be no damage made to stove or any fire extension. Firefighters ventilated the structure.   

• Firefighters assisted EMS on Shirley Road and on Mayo Street.

Incidents

• A hit and run traffic accident was reported at Harvey’s Supermarket on Prince Street.

• Criminal trespass was reported on Wanda Way.

• Burglary was reported on South Hampton Street. A Sony Playstation 3 console worth $600, a Microsoft Xbox 360 console worth $600, a Cincinnati Reds fitted hat worth $40, an Adidas gym bag worth $50, a pair of Polo sports boots worth $150, a karat platinum ring with three stones worth $1,000, a gold diamond ring worth $750, and 15 video games for Xbox and PS3 worth $900 were taken.

• Family violence was reported on Ashby Street.

• Burglary was reported on Andrews Drive. A Hi Point 9 millimeter handgun, a Hi Point 380 handgun and a Dell laptop worth $700 were taken.

• Two counts of theft by taking and theft by taking (motor vehicle) were reported on West Lester Street. One blue go cart and scrap metal were taken.

• A domestic problem was reported on South Lee Street.

• Firefighters assisted EMS on Tommy Warren Drive.

Sumter County Sheriff’s Office

Arrests

• Corey Bowen, 31, of 609 Eastview Drive, Americus is charged with criminal trespassing, and was jailed.

• McArthur C. Jackson, of 102 Hidden Grove Circle, Smithville is charged with burglary, and was jailed.

• Jessie C. Johnson, 21, of 22 Pheasant Drive, Montezuma is charged with burglary, and was jailed.

• Dexter Jordan, 20, of Fulton St., Americus is charged with burglary, and was jailed.

• Shelia T. Walker, 34, of 3384 Ga. Highway 26 East, Ellaville is charged with civil contempt, and was jailed.

• Rickey McClendon, 44, of 107 Sunvalley Drive, Americus is charged with open container and public intoxication, and was jailed.



Incidents

• A domestic disturbance was reported on Flintside Drive.

• An alarm activation was reported on Ga. Highway 27 East and at Cutt’s Restaurant on U.S. Highway 280 East.
