AMERICUS — Americus Fire and Emergency Services



• Firefighters assisted EMS on 10 calls.

• Firefighters responded to a gas odor at five locations.

• Firefighters responded to a gas leak on Davenport Street, North Lee Street and Matt Hart Drive.

• Arcing equipment was reported on Magnolia Street.

• Firefighters responded to downed power lines at Cornelia Drive and Willet Way.

Arrests

• Jacob Ford, 18, of 217 S. Jackson St., Americus is charged with burglary and criminal trespass, and was jailed.

• Vershard J. Lockhart, 21, of 210 Bessie Mays Circle, Americus is charged with criminal trespass, and was jailed.

• Riyod O. Reddick, 17, of 101 Oakridge Drive, Americus is charged with criminal trespass, crossing state/county guard lines with weapons, intoxicants, drugs without consent  and illegal possession of controlled substance, and was jailed.

• Four juveniles were charged with criminal trespass, crossing state/county guard lines with weapons, intoxicants, drugs without consent  and illegal possession of controlled substance.

• Adrian Whitehead, 22, of 713 Tom Gailey Plaza, Americus is charged with obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers, and was jailed.

• Antwan T. Lockhart, 24, of 336 S. Hampton St., Americus is charged with marijuana possession and probation violation, and was jailed.

• Nairobi K. Riley, 35, of 103-F Eastview Circle, Americus is charged with seat belt violation, child restraint and instructional permit violation,  and was jailed.

• Milton Sampson, 37, of 309 Tabby Lane, Americus is charged with  battery, and was jailed.

• Martin Haynes, 46, of 118 Cora Drive, Ellaville is charged with probation violation.

• Eddie M. Walker, 33, of 126 Briar Patch Circle, Americus is charged with operating a motor vehicle without registration, driving while license is suspended or revoked (third offense) and no proof of insurance.

• Joseph K. Smith, 24, of 403-B Arch Helms Road, Americus is charged with disorderly conduct.

• Milton Sampson Jr., 37, of 309-B Tabby Lane is charged with battery/Family Violence Act.



Incidents

• A hit and run was reported at Walmart, 1809 E. Lamar St.

• Two purses were reported stolen from a vehicle on Varsity Drive.

• Three weed trimmers, two leaf blowers and an hedge trimmer were reported stolen at Oak Grove Cemetery, 400 Reese St..

• Forgery was reported at Harvey’s, 107 Prince St.

• A stove and refrigerator were reported stolen on Academy Street.

• A counterfeit $5-bill was reported at SOJO, 1104 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

• Shoplifting was reported at Family Dollar, 601 Hawkins St., and at Harvey’s, 107 Prince St.

• A juvenile problem was reported on Waitsman Drive.

• A computer was reported stolen from a vehicle on Felder Street.

• Jewelry was reported stolen on Washington Street.

• Sexual assault was reported on Sunset Park.



Sumter County Fire Department



• Firefighters assisted EMS on South Georgia Technical College Parkway.

• Firefighters responded a downed wire from the roadway on O’Hara Road.

Arrests

• Ricky L. Green, 52, of 140 Grover Drive, Americus is charged with sexual battery, and was jailed.

• James L. Jones, 32, of 461 U.S. Highway 280 West, Americus is charged with nonpayment of child support, and was jailed.

• Livestock in road was reported on Hooks Mill Road.

• Threats were reported on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

• An animal complaint was reported on Pecan Circle.

• An abandoned vehicle was reported on Salter’s Mill Road.

• A traffic accident involving a deer was reported on South Georgia Tech Parkway.

• A prowler was reported on North Bond Street.

• Damage to property was reported on Young’s Mill Road.

• An alarm activation was reported on Upper River Road.

• Theft was reported on Confederate Street.

• An alarm activation was reported on Cornwell Road.

• A bad child was reported on Ga. Highway 49 South.

• A domestic disturbance was reported on Young’s Mill Road.

• A suspicious person was reported on Culpepper Road.
