AMERICUS — Americus Fire     and Emergency Services

• Firefighters assisted workers with dismantling heavy machinery to get through a factory door on Brady Road.

• Firefighters assisted EMS on Willis Street.

• A cooking fire was contained on Linnie Street.

• Shorted electrical equipment was reported on Cherokee Street. Firefighters arrived to find a smoking television. Occupants believed a Mediacom serviceman caused damage to the TV. Firefighters declared no hazards left.

• An unintentional alarm was sounded on South Lee Street. The alarm was from the nursery section of a church. Firefighters conducted a walk-around and found no hazards.



Americus Police Department

Arrests

• Joe Lewis Hawkins, 58, of 211 Hosanna Circle, Americus is charged with probation violation, and was jailed.

• A juvenile was arrested on Douglas Circle for being unruly.

• Stephen Ashley Strader, 25, of 9728 Ga. Highway 26 W., Oglethorpe is charged with three counts felony theft by deception and five counts misdemeanor theft by deception, and was jailed.

• Arthur James Wilson, 63, of 110 W. Lester St., Americus is charged with driving while his license suspended or revoked, and was released on bond.



Incidents

• A burglary was reported on Bozeman Circle. A dark gray Heat Buster fan, an 18-foot extension ladder, three flat shovels, a Tru Temper wheel barrow and a 100-foot power cord were taken.

• A burglary was reported at Touchless Car Wash on Crawford Street. One Nuvico camera security system with digital recorder and $1,105 were taken.

• A hit and run was reported at Harvey’s Supermarket on Prince Street.

• Entering an auto was reported at Pure Foods on Tripp Street. Eighty Hydrocodene pills, 20 Paxil pills and one black pocketbook were taken.

• A traffic accident was reported at Monroe’s Hotdog on West Lamar Street.

• An animal case was reported on Westside Drive.

• Domestic problems were reported on Hosanna Circle and East Forsyth and North Lee streets.

• An unruly juvenile and a runaway juvenile were reported on Town Creek Circle.

• Simple assault, simple battery and criminal trespass were reported on Glory Court.



Sumter County Fire Department

• Firefighters responded to a fallen power pole on Ga. Highway 27 East and found downed power lines. The back yard, two dog houses and a pump house were on fire. Sumter Electric was contacted, the fire was extinguished and exposures were protected.

• Firefighters assisted EMS on Ga. Highway 308.

Arrests

• Rodney Lamar Battle, 37, of 708 18th Ave., Cordele is charged with probation violation and bench warrant, and was jailed.

• Antonio Cole Blackshear, 35, of 1963 Baseway, College Park is charged with probation violation, and was jailed.

• The Sumter Country Sheriff’s Office is holding Jennifer Stiegler Gebhard, 25, of 120 Ballay Drive, Americus for Dooly County.

• Phillip Lee Hartage, 51, of 108 Town Creek Circle, Americus is charged with child support violation, and was jailed.

• Otis Reid Sims, 37, of 653-C Small Piece Road, Americus is charged with probation violation, and was jailed.

• Bradley Street, 21, of 710 Pateville Heights Court, Cordele is charged with failure to appear in court, and was jailed.

• Kevin Lashawn Walton, 23, of 56 Lowe Miles Road, Preston is charged with two counts of probation violation.



Incidents

• Damaged property was reported at the Welcome Center on East Church Street.

• A stray dog was reported in Sumter County.

• Stolen property was found in Sumter County.

• Scam information was reported on South Village Drive.

• A motorist was assisted on U.S. Highway 19 North.

• Harassing phone calls were reported at the Law Enforcement Center lobby.

• Four kittens were reported on Ginger Drive.

• Assistance was requested in Pioneer Park, Andersonville.

• A 911 hang up was reported on Ga. Highway 49 North.

• Accidents involving deer were reported on Ga. Highway 27 East and Ga. Highway 195.

• Criminal trespassing was reported on McMath Mill Road.

    • Brito A. Cadena, 35, of 131-B Cotton Ave., Americus is charged with driving while license is suspended and speeding.
    • Don Smith, 37, of 217 Poplar St., Americus is charged with simple battery.
    • Jarriann P. Walters, 21, of 215 Habitat St., Americus is charged with assault-battery.
    • Thomas L. Long Jr., 19, of 240 S. Dudley St., Americus is charged with reckless and dangerous use of dangerous weapons.
    • Virginia Robinson, 33, of 214 Habitat St., Americus is charged with disorderly conduct.
    • Miranda R. Ross, 18, of 507-A Bessie Mays Circle, Americus is charged with underage possession/consumption of alcohol and maintaining a disorderly house.
    • Chelsey M. Jordan, 18, of 127 Bronco Drive, Americus is charged with DUI.

    • Firefighters assisted EMS on Watermelon Road, Middle River Road, DeSoto Seed Farm Road, Grover Pace Road, Oak Turn Drive and North Spring Creek Circle and was jailed.
    • Firefighters responded to false alarms on Austin Drive and Thomas Drive.
