AMERICUS — The following food service inspections were recently conducted by the Environmental Health Services Office, Sumter County Health Department.

• Krystal, 102 Tripp St., Americus — routine — score: 99 A

— Observed employee touch raw product then ready-to-eat product without changing gloves or washing their hands.

• Christian Outreach, 515 Bumphead Road, Americus — routine — score: 92 A

— No paper towels at hand sink

— The bleach level was too low. It needs to be at three-compartment sink for sanitizing.

• Little Brother’s Bistro and Cafe, 131 W. Forsyth St., Americus — routine — score: 100 A

— No deficiencies observed.

• La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant, 1602 E. Forsyth St., Americus — routine — score: 80 B

— Observed food in prep area, freezer and walk-in cooler stored uncovered. All food needs to be stored covered.

— Observed PHF (potentially hazardous foods) held greater than 41 degrees F. All PHF must be cold held below 41 degrees F. or used by time as public health control and discarded within four hours.

— Observed spray bottles with no labels. Also observed toxic substances (hydrogen peroxide, alcohol) stored on top of the ice machine. All bottles must be labeled and toxic substances need to be stored in a designated area away from food.

— Observed dumpster doors and top open. The dumpster needs to be closed at all times.

— Observed fire extinguishers and fire suppression hood out of date. They need to be inspected and retagged.

• Burger King, 922 E. Lamar St., Americus — routine — score: 96 A

— Observed build-up in ice cream scoop container. Container needs to be cleaned/sanitized and checked frequently.

• Church’s Fried Chicken, 1322 E. Lamar St., Americus — routine — score: 92 A

— Men’s restroom was out of paper towels and the soap dispenser was broken. Also observed a sponge in a hand-washing sink. Hand-washing sinks are strictly for hand-washing and should be adequately supplied.

— The sanitizer bucket was not at the proper minimum strength. It needs to be at least 100 ppm.

— Observed pans stacked wet and improperly stored. Pans need to be air dried and stacked inverted.

• Carter’s Fried Chicken, 206 Tripp St. — routine — score: 87 B

— Observed PHF held greater than 41 degrees F. (tomatoes, slaw, cheese, ranch dressing, etc.) needs to be held at 41 degrees F. or below.

— Observed food items (milk) held past expiration date. Needed to be discarded.
