AMERICUS —
Oct. 2, was marked by great rejoicing, celebration and joyful worship at Eastview Seventh-day Adventist Church, 701 Ashby St. While it is the norm for joyful worship to be experienced at Eastview every Saturday, it was extra special on this particular date, as several deaconesses and one deacon were ordained to these special ministries for the first time. The special ceremony was conducted by Senior Pastor E.A .Ennis during the annual Community Guest Day program.
Family members and other well wishers of those being ordained were present in great numbers to help celebrate the occasion. Eastview Seventh-day Adventist Church members cease from work, and instead worship on Saturdays in harmony with the Fourth Commandment to "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy." A typical Sabbath at Eastview consists of Sabbath School Bible Study at 9:15 a.m., followed by the Divine Worship Service at 11 a.m. Mid-week worship services are held at 7 p.m.Tuesdays.
