Thomasville — A search for a Florida woman that encompassed large areas of Leon County, Fla., and Thomas County moved Tuesday into neighboring Jefferson County, Fla.
The search will focus on State Road 59 between U.S. 90 and Highway 27 and Wacissa and Waukeenah communities in west Jefferson County.
The search will include law enforcement officers and volunteers on foot, as well as air support, mounted units, dive teams and boats, according to a Tuesday release by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman, Danielle Brown, 21, of Tallahassee, has not been seen since Friday, Feb. 5, when she left her mother’s house in south Leon County.
When last seen, Brown was accompanied by Elijah James, who is being held in the Leon County Jail. He is charged with grand theft in connection with Brown’s vehicle, which was found partially burned at the Pavo dump in Thomas County. James is charged with arson in Thomas County.
Pieces of Brown’s drivers license and her cell phone were found near a trash receptacle at Springhill and Metcalf-Beachton roads in south Thomas County.
A subsequent two-day search of the Thomasville-Thomas County Sanitary Landfill was conducted for Brown’s body and/or related items. It has not been released whether anything of evidentiary importance was found among landfill debris.
Leads have put Brown’s vehicle in the Wacissa and Waukeenah communities of Jefferson County between 1:30 and 4 a.m. the day after she disappeared. The investigation has placed James in Jefferson County between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. two days after Brown disappeared.
The Leon County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $5,000 reward in the case.
Leon County and Thomas County sheriffs’ offices continue to receive information about the missing woman.
“Any tip that comes in, we have to look into it. We encourage people to call with any information,” said Lt. Steven Jones, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office public information officer.
