LESLIE — It wouldn’t be springtime without the dogwoods in Leslie. Leslie’s Town & Country Garden Club hosts its 22nd annual Dogwood Antiques Show & Sale today through Sunday at the Leslie Civic Center.
Jolie Ledger, overall event chairman, said there will be 19 dealers at this year’s show and sale.
“Everyone’s returning from last year, except two,” she said, “and we have someone to take those spots, so there will be a lot of familiar faces this year.”
Ledger said the dealers’ offerings include antique furniture, “lots of jewelry,” silver, cut glass, knives and coins, other “knick-knacks” and more.
Between shopping for deals and catching up with friends and neighbors at the event, visitors can also stop in the Team Room for some delicious refreshment. Ledger said there will be homemade items such as desserts, chicken salad and soups, as well as Thomas Harrell’s famous barbecued pork.
Hours for the show and sale are from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday.
In addition to the show, sale and food, there is also a raffle to win $100 to be spent at the event. Ledger said tickets are $1 each and two will be drawn today, Saturday and Sunday.
Proceeds from the event will go back into the community, according to Ledger, through beautification projects such as improvements at the civic center, building a gazebo at City Hall for the train, water fountains and picnic tables.
Admission to the show and sale is $5 per person; children under 12 are admitted free.
The weather appears to be cooperating with the event with sunny skies and highs in the lower 70s today, partly sunny skies and highs in the mid 70s Saturday and a few showers likely Sunday with a high in the upper 60s. The event is held inside the civic center, however.
