Health inspections 3/21
AMERICUS — The following health inspections were conducted recently by the Environmental Health Services Office, Sumter County Health Department
• Americus-Sumter County High School North Campus, 200 Industrial Blvd., Americus — March 4 — routine — score: 100 A — inspected by Jane Arnold
— No deficiencies noted.
• Sumter County Elementary School, 438 Bumphead Road, Americus — March 4 — routine — score: 96 A — inspected by Megan Kirksey
— Dish machine final rinse at 120 degrees F. or 0 degrees F. instead of 180 degrees-plus. Advised to use paper products until repairs were made.
• Sumter County Head Start, 802 Ashby St., Americus — Feb. 22 — routine — score: 86 B — inspected by Harold B. Carter and Jane Arnold
— Bare wood shelves in chemical room.
— Dining tables need to be properly cleaned using two-bucket method.
— Wiping cloths for prep table needs to be stored in bucket between uses.
— Dumpster lid and plug missing. Need to keep lids closed. Cans need to be bagged and sealed, not loose.
— Non-approved chemical (bug spray) stored in chemical room.
— No back flow device on mop sink.
— Heavy dust accumulation on fan over dish machine.
— Repair broken quat machine; use bleach until repaired.
• Sumter County Middle School, Bunphead Road, Americus — March 9 — routine — score: 98 A — inspected by Megan Kirksey
— Lid on powdered sugar cracked; needs to be replaced.
— Water pedal on three-compartment sink is leaky; needs repairing.
* Dish machine not in use; when turned on to check, machine wouldn’t fill; needs repairing.
• Pub 280, 116 W. Lamar St., Americus — March 12 — routine — score: 78 C — inspected by Arnold
— Handwash sink not accessible for employees at all times (several bags of dish towels stored in it).
— Observed raw animal food (ground beef, eggs) stored over ready to eat foods.
— Prepared food not marked with date of preparation or date for disposal (chili, slaw).
— Floors in ladies bathroom and behind bar not maintained cleanable and durable due to holes in subflooring and vinyl.
— No current hood fire suppression system inspection report available. Vents over grill have build-up of grease; need to be cleaned. Mops and brooms need to be properly hung/stored when not in use.
