Teens caught in ‘act:’ Attended sex-ed class

Thomasville — Teens engaged in sexual intercourse in a Thomas County Stadium press box March 15 night told a law enforcement officer they had just attended a sex-education class.

Someone reported seeing two individuals enter the visitors-side press box about 7:30 p.m. and contacted authorities.

The responding Thomas County Sheriff’s Office deputy was told the teens “were possibly having sexual intercourse,” according to a sheriff’s office incident report.

The officer went to the press box, where the teens were “engaged in a lewd act,” the report shows.

The deputy backed away from the press box, told the teens to retrieve their clothing and to come out of the building.

The male, 14 or 15, is believed to be home-schooled. The girl, 15, is a student at Thomas County Central High School.

The male told the deputy he and the girl had attended a sex-education class at nearby Southwest Georgia Technical College (SWGTC).

According to the incident report, the boy told the deputy the class “let out early, so they made their way over to the press box where they proceeded to enter the building and have sexual intercourse.”

The teens’ parents were contacted, and the youngsters were transported to the Jail-Justice Center, where they met with an investigator.

The teens are charged with criminal trespass and indecent exposure. Their cases are to be heard in Thomas County Juvenile Court.

The event at SWGTC was not a sex-education class, but a public forum: “Teens, Sex & the Law.”
