ATLANTA — The National Weather Service is predicting heavy rain in metro Atlanta, and there’s a winter storm watch for northeast Georgia.
Forecasters say there’s a flood watch for metro Atlanta and counties to the south. They’re predicting about 2 inches of rain Thursday night through Friday.
The weather service says rainfall of 1.5 inches is expected across most of the area, with up to 2.5 inches of rain possible across central Georgia.
The rain will be accompanied by strong winds, prompting a wind advisory for areas of the state north of a line from Americus to Macon to Lexington, where gusts to 35 mph are possible.
A winter storm watch is in effect through Friday night in the northeast corner of Georgia.
