AMERICUS — The first baby was born in Sumter County Tuesday at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Cameron Isaiah Gordon entered the world at 12:04 p.m. and weighed in at 7 pounds and 2 ounces and 20 inches long. He is the son of KaNundria Wilbon and Brandon Gordon of Americus. Local physician Buddy Marshall was the attending physician.

“My due date was January 5th, so I knew there was a possibility,” said Wilbon. “It is very exciting to know that our child is the first baby born in Sumter County and it is something that he can always remember.”

As the New Year’s baby, little Cameron will receive a plaque and a number of other gifts from Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.
