AMERICUS —
Four members of the Georgia Southwestern State University English Language Institute (ELI) class and their instructor, Professor John Fox, were special guest speakers at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently.
Ruiming Yang and Siyi Chen from China, Poona Dahal from Nepal and Maggie Perez of Cuba spoke to a SGTC criminal justice ethics and cultural diversity class.
SGTC criminal justice instructor Mike Tracy invited Fox and his students to SGTC to speak on life in their native countries. This was a wonderful opportunity for the GSW students to share their experiences as well as help educate SGTC students about different cultures from around the world.
“These young ladies brought a new perspective to our criminal justice students and I would like to thank them for their willingness to come and talk to our class,” said Tracy. “They gave an enjoyable and interesting presentation that will be beneficial to our criminal justice students and give them insight into the various ethics and culture that they may encounter once they enter the workforce.”
