NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — —
Robbie Latimore, Ed.D., of Americus was inducted into the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Southeastern Region Hall of Fame at the sorority’s Southeastern Regional Leadership Conference held on Nov. 17-20 in North Charleston, S.C. The Southeastern Region is comprised of Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, the Bahamas, and the Virgin Islands. Latimore was chosen as the Georgia representative by a unanimous vote of the Georgia Executive Board at its September Board meeting.
The honor was bestowed by the Georgia State Director, Myra F. Reese at a Capital Campaign awards banquet. The sorority’s International president, Sheryl P. Underwood who is one of the hosts on the CBS-TV program, “The Talk,” and Chrislyn Turner, Southeastern Region director, were on hand for the presentation. During the award presentation, Reese commented that Latimore was selected for her many years of dedicated service, demonstrated leadership, exemplification of finer womanhood and community involvement.
Latimore was the charter president in 1990 of Omicron Alpha Zeta Chapter of Americus and is currently serving a term as president. She is a Diamond Life member, Life Member Coordinator for the State of Georgia, and serves on the national level as a member of the Zeta Organization Leadership (ZOL) Committee which is the education and training arm of the sorority. She serves on the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center Board of Directors and recently retired as Vice President for Academic Affairs at South Georgia Technical College.
Latimore is married to Frank Latimore, retired Sumter County Extension coordinator, and they have three grown children.
