Man transported by ‘air-evac’ after wreck

AMERICUS — A Newan man was transported to Macon Medical Center via flight evac helicopter Thursday after he sustained injuries in two-car accident Thursday.

According to an Americus Police Department report, an investigation determined that Gary L. Brooks, of 120 Lakeshore Parkway, failed to stop at a stop sign a the intersection of South Georgia Technical College Parkway and Martin Marietta Street and collided with another vehicle around 7:30 p.m.

Brooks, driving a 2005 Kia Amanti collided with the front a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Christie C. Shiflett, of 639 Barwick Road, Ellaville. According to the report A citation will be issued to Brooks for failing to stop for the stop sign when he is medically cleared.
