AMERICUS — Mrs. Lewis Wilson of Americus celebrated her 90th birthday at the Fellowship Hall at Rehoboth Baptist Church on Dawson Road on Aug. 14, also her 70 years of marriage to Lewis E. Wilson.

The beautiful party was hosted by the honoree’s sisters, Faye Knight and Liz Turpin and also her daughters Kerri Untch and Kim Mountjoy.

Guests were welcomed by Mrs. Paul Shellnut and Mrs. Willie Harper.

Kristen Perry, granddaughter kept the guest book placed on a round table covered with lace skirted cloth which held a beautiful arrangement of spring flowers in a basket given by a cousin, Margie Porter and family from Lakeland, Fla.

The fellowship hall was beautifully decorated with graceful ferns in stands spaced about the room.

The cake table, covered with a white gathered skirt and lace overlay, held the four-tiered cake which was cut and served by Betty Anderson, a long time friend of the Turner family.

The long refreshment table was positioned at the back of the fellowship hall, it was also covered with a white gathered cloth with lace overlay; two brass candelabra holding white votive candles adorned the end of the table.

A large arrangement of colorful lilies, carnations, roses and ferns formed a beautiful background for the food table which was a gift from a cousin,  Martha Arnold and family from Carrollton.

A wide variety of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres was presented from silver trays; assorted party sandwiches, cheese straws, toasted pecans and a huge assorted season fruit and dip centered the table prepared by Catering Creations Inc.

The punch table was also covered with a white gathered skirt overlaid with a lace coverlet and was near the food table.

Granddaughter Nally Mountjoy poured and served the punch.

For the occasion Lela Turner Wilson wore a white pants outfit with a top embossed with gold threads and a corsage of pink roses.

On Sept. 5, she and her husband will be married 70 years.

They married on the wedding day of her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Turner.

She has two deceased brothers, H.C. Turner Jr. and Lee Jack Turner.

Before entering the fellowship hall the lawn held a garden bench with a bride and groom representing the bridal couple when they were married Sept. 5, 1940.

Guests from Atlanta, Carrollton, Albany, Plains, Birmingham, Ala., and Thailand were in attendance.
