AMERICUS —
Southwestern Judicial Circuit Chief Judge R. Rucker Smith was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Saturday afternoon by the Leslie Police Department.
Sumter County Sheriff Pete Smith confirmed that Smith had been charged, and was “afforded the same treatment as anyone else booked into the Sumter County Jail.”
The judge posted bond later Saturday and was released, according to reports.
