ELLAVILLE —
The students in Hope Buchanan’s Class (Schley County Elementary First Grade) recently enjoyed a math activity of measuring a giant stick of candy. The students found that the candy was over 130 inches long! They found out that they could have 5 inches each when they cut it into equal parts.
At the end of the activity the students really enjoyed comparing the sour taste of the candy to the taste of other foods such as popcorn, goldfish, and M&Ms. Mrs. Buchanan’s teacher apprentice supplied the January treat. The adjective/math lesson proved to be educational and tasty.— Written by Jessica Thomas, 11th Grade
