PFC Bell completes recruit training

AMERICUS — Private First Class Dontavius R. Bell, son of Lisa Bell of Americus, completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., and graduated December 7, 2012. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps July 11, 2012 and is presently working as a Recruiter Assistant.

During recruit training, PFC Bell learned military customs and courtesies, first aid, and a variety of military-related subjects. Marine Corps "boot camp" is a rigorous training period, both physically and mentally, and designed to enhance raw talent and create the moral discipline required of all Marines.

Bell, a graduate of Americus-Sumter High School, was enlisted by Staff Sergeant Christopher Pilgrim of Recruiting Substation Albany, Permanent Contact Station Americus, 105 Manhattan St.
