AMERICUS — Funeral services for Mr. Eddie Butts Jr. of 412 Forestside Drive, Americus, Ga., who passed on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Friendship Baptist Church. The Rev. Melvin McCluster will officiate and burial will follow in the Eastview Cemetery. The remains will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the services.
Mr. Eddie Butts Jr. was born on Feb. 23, 1970, in Sumter County, Georgia, to the parentage of Mr. Eddie Butts and Mrs. Mary Jenkins Butts, both of Americus, Ga.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Mr. Timothy Butts and Mr. Jeremiah (Brenetta) Butts; two sisters, Ms. Eddie Jean Butts and Ms. Niya Butts; his grandmothers, Ms. Reatha Jenkins and Ms. Eunice Butts; his great-grandmother, Ms. Hattie Jenkins; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Home Run to be held in Jay Williams’ memory
Jay Williams, of Plains, was an outdoor type of guy, enjoying activities such as running and bicycling. He was also a spiritual man and enjoyed sharing his faith with others. When he died after a falling accident in June 2012, his friends really missed him. Two of those friends, Travis Kelly and Rebecca Ferguson, decided to carry out a race event that Williams had planned, to benefit the Methodist Youth Home in Americus.
