DESOTO — Mrs. Leona Hargrove Westbrook, 86, of Gray Moss Road, DeSoto, Ga., passed Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Crisp Regional Hospital, Cordele, Ga.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Antioch Baptist Church, 1298 Chokee Road, DeSoto, Ga. Interment will follow in the Antioch Cemetery. The Rev. Lorenzo Mullins, pastor, will officiate.
Mrs. Leona Hargrove Westbrook was born on Aug. 12, 1923, in Lee County, Georgia, to the late Willie Mapp and Essie Duncan Mapp. She was educated in the public school system of Lee County. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, Missionary Auxillary Board and Usher Board Ministry. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Eddie Westbrook Sr. To this union 10 children were born. Three sons preceded her in death, Willie Westbrook, Jim Westbrook and C.T. Westbrook.
Survivors are children, Calvin Westbrook, Eddie Westbrook Jr., Otis Westbrook, Linda W. Marshall, Robert Westbrook, Louise Barthell and Brinda Sedgwick (Everett); 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; daughters-in-law, Lela Westbrook and Nina Westbrook; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including two who were especially devoted to her, Alpina Sweets and Mildred Snead.
Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
