Richland — The SOWEGA Big Wheelers 11th annual Trac-Tow-Rama will feature a glimpse into the past. The annual event will be from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, at the Richland Industrial Park. Tickets are $5/adults and $1/children.
Anita Pittman, one of the organizers for the event, said tractor enthusiasts from Alabama, Florida and Georgia will be at the event.
"They (enthusiasts), along with Big Wheelers members, will be at the event to show their 'toys,'" said Pittman.
The Stewart County Volunteer Fire Department will be selling hamburger and hotdogs at the event.
The Trac-Tow-Rama will feature a tractor pull, a tractor show, slow races, a parade and the children's pedal tractor race.
"The children's pedal tractor race is one of the highlights of the day," said Pittman.
There will be raffles for two toy tractors donated by McCranie Tractor Co. and John Deere, both of Americus, according to Pittman. A steam engine train will be on display on the train tracks that run along Highway 27 near Highway 520 the day of the event.
"The children's pedal tractor race is one of the highlights of the day," said Pittman. She said the Trac-Tow-Rama will have vendors that will “serve any kind of food you can think of. We will have a real assortment of food.” And there will also be arts and crafts vendors as well.
SOWEGA Big Wheelers is a group of antique tractor and engine enthusiasts, and some of their tractors date back to the 1950s. Pittman said some of the tractors have been restored and some have not. Members are spread throughout Alabama, Florida and Georgia.
