AMERICUS — The Rylander Theatre and the Americus Theater and Cultural Center Authority announce that Brenda Burns has accepted the position of administrative assistant. Burns holds a bachelor degree in psychology from Georgia Southwestern State University and possesses extensive management and administrative experience, according to a new release from the Authority.
As administrative assistant, Burns will provide administrative support to the managing director as well as theater operations. She will supervise the cleaning staff, process revenues, coordinate purchasing activities, manage accounts payable, train and coordinate volunteers and manage box office operations. She will also serve as director for the new Educational Series, Y.I.P.P.I.E (Youth In Plays and Performances Infused with Education).
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Burns has lived in Ellaville since 1989. She is married to Bob and has three adult children: Becca, Jeremy and Joey. Burns has worked at Sumter County Correctional Institute as a senior counselor, with Transitions at Middle Flint Behavioral HealthCare and has managed The Pizza Place in Ellaville before joining The Rylander Theatre through The Staffing People.
