AMERICUS — A new user-friendly website is now available for all Sumter County residents and others interested in the area at www.sumtercountyga.us. Along with a new design and new navigation, visitors to the site will now find the latest technological bells and whistles, including drop-down menus, email and printable pages and a search engine.
Updating the website was among the list of priorities developed by the Board of Commissioners during the strategic planning process in 2007. Citizens and businesses are expecting more out of their local government. They want to do more of their County government business online — anytime, anywhere. This new County web site is a start for meeting the needs of citizens and businesses, providing quick and convenient access to county information 24/7.
In an effort to build a stronger connection to the Sumter County community, the County embarked on the process of redesigning the website to make it more user-friendly with a design that reflected the County’s values. With the assistance of government web site experts, Civic Plus, Sumter County has a new site with a creative new look and feel, along with intuitive navigation which provides easy access to Sumter County’s vast array of programs and services.
Visitors to www.sumtercountyga.us will find directly on the homepage links to current county news such as early voting information and sample ballots, current calendar with Board meetings with agenda items, and quick-link buttons to frequently requested information. Some of the many new items to the site include; frequently asked questions (FAQs), sign up features for newsletters and bids, and frequently requested documents.
“It is important to us that the residents of Sumter County are able to easily access the resources we provide,” said Lynn Taylor, County administrator. “The website is just one of many tools we are enhancing to make County government more accessible to all.”
