Campbell Chapel A.M.E. Church

Vivian Bryant’s Angel Choir’s 17th anniversary celebration is at 4 p.m. Oct. 19. All choirs and groups are asked to render an A&B; selection or present a creative dance, skit, mime, poem or monologue. Refreshments will be served.



Welcome Baptist Church

The fourth annual choir anniversary is celebrated at 5 p.m. Sunday. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.



Mount Salem Baptist Church

The 38th usher’s anniversary is marked at 5 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Joe Oglesby and Good Hope Baptist Church, Preston are in charge. The public is invited.



Friendship Baptist Association

Brotherhood meeting is today at the camp. Supper is at 6:30 p.m. Program is Children Singers of Tallahassee Children’s Home. A love offering will be taken.



Wycliffe Bible Translators

A Bible Translation Banquet is at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at Quality Inn, Americus. Call 937-2853 by Oct. 13 for reservations.



Big Bethel Missionary Baptist Church

The 125th church anniversary services conclude at 11 a.m. Sunday with the Rev. David Townes, Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Reynolds and Welcome Home Full Gospel Church, Butler in charge. The Rev. Roosevelt Carter and First Monumental Ministries, Albany are in charge of the 3 p.m. services. Everyone is welcome.



First Baptist Church

Georgia State Gospel Singing Convention is Oct. 10-11. Today’s activities begin at 6 p.m. with registration followed 7-9 p.m. with session. Refreshments will be served at the conclusion. Saturday registration is at 9 a.m. followed at 10 a.m. with the session. Lunch is from noon-1:30 p.m. with sing resuming from 1:30-3:30 p.m.



Sumter Area Ministerial Association

The monthly meeting is at noon Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church. All ministers are invited for coffee, fellowship and discussion. Call 924-2162 for more information.



Andersonville

The Barn

Stan Shuman and Once Forgiven are in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday. There is no admission fee, but a love offering will be taken. Refreshments are available.



St. Paul A.M.E. Church

The 118th church anniversary is celebrated at 11 a.m. Sunday along with regular worship services. The Rev. Norris Harris delivers the message. All area churches are invited.

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church

Usher and Mission Anniversary is at 11 a.m. Sunday along with regular worship services. Speakers are Sister Elizabeth Holloway on missions and Sister Bettye Deriso on ushers. Everyone is invited.



Leslie

Piney Grove No. 3 Baptist Church

Men and Women’s Day is at 11 a.m. Sunday during regular services. Minister Jennifer Dawson of Friendship Baptist Church, Americus is speaker for the women and Deacon James Cutts of New Zion Baptist Church is speaker for the men.



Zion Hill Baptist Church

Ordination services for Minister Horace Holloway III are at 4 p.m. Oct. 19. The pubic is invited.



Civic Center

South Georgia Quartet and Living Water are featured at 7:30 p.m. today. A love offering will be accepted.



Parrott

Parrott United Methodist Church 

The Rev. Gil Tripp of Americus delivers the message at the annual homecoming service Oct. 19. The service begins at 11 a.m. and will be followed by a covered dish luncheon. Barbecued ribs and chicken will be provided and everyone is encouraged to bring their favorite side dish or dessert. For additional information, call Mary Sue Alston at 229-623-2024.

St. Mark A.M.E. Church

The Vera Wakefield Gardner Missionary Society celebrates Missionary Day at 11 a.m. Sunday along with regular worship services. Guest speaker is Minister Melody Floyd Lewis of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Americus. Theme is “Living Well – Aging Well – Serving Well.”



Plains

Antioch Baptist Church

Revival services are at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 14-16. On the program Tuesday are the Rev. William Laster and Ebenezer Baptist Church and choir, Greater New Lebanon, Greater Cedar Spring, Daniel Grove, Mount Carmel and Bethlehem. Wednesday is Shipp Chapel and choir, St. John, Lebanon, Union Oak Grove, Mt. Salem and Bethel. Thursday is Mount Zion Webster and choir, Zion Hope, Magnolia Preston, Friendship, Springhill and Jerusalem.

Zion Hope Baptist Church

Church anniversary is marked at 11 a.m. Sunday along with regular services. Everyone is invited.

Sherwood Baptist Church

Gary Smalley hosts a live marriage seminar, “Fireproof My Marriage” 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 1. Cost is $59/couple or $30/individual before Oct. 17 or $69/couple and $35/individual after that date. A Chick-Fil-A boxed lunch is available for $6 when you register. Childcare is provided for children birth-fifth grade but registrations must be made no later than Oct. 27.
