AMERICUS — The Magnolia & Ivy tea parlor at the Historic Windsor Hotel is a quaint place where one can get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, explained owners, Teresa Eager and Kay Snipes. Magnolia & Ivy is located on the second floor of the hotel in the Rosalyn Carter Tea Room.
The tea parlor offers 60 varieties of tea plus soup, scones, croissants, finger sandwiches, etc.
Eager and Snipes’ childhood dream of opening their own tearoom was realized in August of 1995 when they opened the first Magnolia & Ivy antique, gift, and tea parlor in the small town of Parrott. Within one year, four additional Magnolia & Ivy shops were opened in the surrounding communities of Columbus, Plains, and Richland, serving tea with “a dash of Southern Hospitality.” Tearooms were also opened in two bed and breakfasts located in South Georgia. The Georgia shops were sold or consolidated to make way for Magnolia & Ivy of Sandestin, Florida.
With their 25 years combined practical knowledge in education, retail and interior design, the two sisters have created a true "American" tea experience. Afternoon tea is served seven in an elegant and graceful setting.
A perfect setting for tea for two, Magnolia & Ivy is delighted to host themed teas and other special events. Magnolia & Ivy serves the world. All teas can be decaffeinated.
“Open a Tearoom God's Way” as a natural outgrowth of the sisters' desire to educate and impart the concept that one’s workplace is that person’s ministry. Your sphere of influence is your personal mission field. Held several times a year, the conference features a special tour of the Magnolia & Ivy tearoom. Incorporating an apprenticeship time during the conference has proven invaluable to the attendees, explained the sisters.
Visit the website www.magnoliaivy.com for more information about the tearoom. It is opened from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday.
