In Tuesday’s edition, an article from the Sumter County Board of Education work session, it was reported that a video existed of a teacher “hurting” students, when in fact, but school officials say that was not the actual statement.
Jim Whitson, assistant superintendent for Sumter County Schools, had made a statement concerning personnel issue, which was unintentionally taken out of context by the Times-Recorder reporter.
The statement was in reference to a body of evidence from a prior situation, not the current matter at hand which deals with students being “hurt” academically.
This will be discussed at Thursday’s Board of Education meeting.
