PharmaCentra CEO Dan Berman to deliver keynote address

From Staff Reports

AMERICUS — The Americus-Sumter County Chamber of Commerce has invited PharmaCentra CEO Dan Berman to deliver the keynote address at the Annual Americus-Sumter County Chamber Meeting. The event takes at 7 p.m. Feb. 5 at the South Georgia Technical College’s Pope Center. PharmaCentra is an Atlanta-based company that provides customizable marketing and healthcare management programs for the pharmaceutical industry. Berman’s presentation will highlight the important role that rural communities play in the overall economic landscape.

“Americus is a model for rural economic development in Georgia and the nation,” said Berman, chairman and CEO of PharmaCentra. “I would like to see more Atlanta companies shift their focus away from off-shoring and look to rural communities for expansion and relocation of services. Now more than ever, communities like Americus and companies like PharmaCentra need to be connecting. Small business is the backbone of America, and we want to be a catalyst for economic growth during these difficult times.”

Elected officials and community leaders in Americus worked closely with PharmaCentra’s executives to build out an appropriate office space and provided tax and capital improvement incentives. In a town where tornadoes destroyed businesses, homes and the Sumter Regional Hospital in March 2007, displaced nurses and health care workers were able to apply for one of the 150 jobs created when PharmaCentra opened its doors in Americus. Americus is also home to two schools — Georgia Southwestern State University and South Georgia Technical College — granting PharmaCentra access to a very skilled, educated and motivated workforce, all within 135 miles of Atlanta. In addition to the operations center in Americus, PharmaCentra has also opened an operation center in Swainsboro.
