SMITHVILLE — Around noon Tuesday, a two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Ga. Highways 377 and 118, ending in tragedy.
According to reports from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, a light-colored Honda Accord traveling from Americus on Highway 377 apparently rolled through the stop sign at the intersection, with 118 when a semi-truck coming from Smithville slammed into the car.
The two occupants of the Accord died on the scene, while the driver of the semi-truck appeared to be uninjured.
The accident is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol Post in Albany.
