AMERICUS — AMERICUS — Tickets are still available to enter SGTC’s June 18th drawing for the South Georgia Technical College Skills USA grill raffle. Tickets may be purchased for $5.
SGTC welding instructor Duane Register’s class used their welding skills to construct a grill for SGTC’s Skills USA organization to raffle off. Students will be selling tickets to help raise funds for local, state, and national Skills USA competitions. Skills USA is an organization that allows students to compete against other top students and showcase their skills learned through hands-on training in the classroom.
Southeastern Pneumatics in Ellaville agreed to donate the time and material to sandblast the propane tank after students converted it into a grill. SGTC students painted the newly sandblasted grill black for the finishing touch.
The grill has two doors and is on wheels to allow it to be connected to a trailer hitch for transporting. The grill will be on display outside the welding classroom on SGTC’s Americus campus until the drawing is held on June 18th to determine the winner.
To purchase a ticket, contact Michele Ragsdale at 931-5731 or Jennifer Childs at 271-2447.
