AMERICUS — The Georgia Southwestern Foundation and Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) announce the 2009 winners of the Dr. Harold Holloway Scholarship. The scholarships have been given annually by Holloway for the past five years to honor graduates of Schley County High School who attend GSW.
Holloway very strongly believes that the future of GSW is partially tied to the successful recruitment of local students. This year's recipients are Jamie Owens, John Belcher, Nik Bentley, Shea Dominey and Kimberly Tyler. These students plan to attend GSW in the fall, and they will receive a $500 scholarship from Holloway.
A Schley County native, Holloway has been in private practice for 39 years. The last three have been in Ellaville. Holloway and his wife, Karen, have three children and five grandchildren. They live in Americus. Holloway also received the 2009 Leewyn J. Finklea Outstanding Alumni Award from GSW.
