AMERICUS —
AMERICUS — The Americus City Council met Thursday in its regular monthly session and to hold two public hearings as required by law.
The hearings were held on requests from Thomas A Barr, represented by Phoebe Putney Health System Inc. and attorney Michael Fennessy to annex 45.278 acres of property at the intersection of U.S. Highway 280 and U.S. Highway 19 and to rezone 1.58 acres of property from Agricultural to Institutional for the construction of the new hospital and future development. There were no negative comments during either hearing. The Council will take action on these requests at the July regular meeting.
In other business, the Council voted to:
• Approve an alcoholic beverage license for Sue Baby’s restaurant, 329 W. Lamar St.
• Approve an amendment to the alcoholic beverage license ordinance which would require all non-profit (501-C-3) and civic organizations acquire a one-time alcohol license with the City and State of Georgia within 20 days of any event serving alcohol.
• Approve emergency repair of leaks in Sunset Mausoleum in the amount of $16,509.
• Approve the Flood Plain Ordinance amendment.
• Accept the donation of a small segment of property on Brookdale Drive from local developer Billy Horne.
• Approve the reappointment of Bill Krenson to another five-year term on the Housing Authority of Americus.
• Approve the reappointments of Frederick McLaughlin and Michael Coley to two-year terms on the Americus-Sumter County Hospital Authority.
• Approve the reappointment of Dorothy Patterson and the appointment of Linda Dowdell-Pope to three-year terms on the Lake Blackshear Regional Library board.
• Approve a change order for TLC Lawn Care in the amount of $15,347.80 for the U.S. Highway 19 and U.S. Highway 280 project
