AMERICUS — Saturday, July 4 is the date of the 25th Annual Anderson and Edith Jackson Family Reunion Banquet. This event will be held at the Quality Inn, 1205 N. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. The program begins at 6 p.m.
A special feature for this year's banquet is to honor the reunion founder, Neasie Jackson Hill. Hill has been a great source of inspiration for Jackson family members to set aside a special time to share family history and enjoy the company of family members on a regular basis. During the banquet, Hill will be honored by the Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, 225 Forest St. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.
The actual family homestead is in Talbotton. This is where Anderson and Edith raised eight children on a farm. Reunion organizers thought because of the important milestone of 25 years that this event should be brought to Hill in Americus. Besides the many family members who reside in Georgia, relatives will be traveling from Texas, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Virginia to celebrate the Jackson heritage.
The reunion dates are Thursday through Sunday. Family members are looking forward to a cookout, playing games, sharing family history and visiting historic sites near Americus.
