Schley Elementary students learn to create PowerPoint presentations

ELLAVILLE — Students at Schley County Elementary School visit the Technology Lab once a week for 50 minutes. During the first Nine Weeks of school Ginger Almon, technology instructor, utilized those 50 minutes with each class to work on Microsoft PowerPoint skills.

Grades 3-5 produced a PowerPoint that was an interview of a classmate.  The students had to take photos of their partners, insert the picture into their PowerPoint, create at least four typed slides that included photos for each slide, as well as a resource page for any references from the Internet.

Once the assignment was completed, the students presented their PowerPoint to the class.

In grades 1-2, Almon read half of the book, “The Relatives Came,” to the class. Students were given the assignment to “complete” the story based on what they thought the relatives would do when they arrived. Students completed a storyboard before beginning their PowerPoint “book” titled When the Relatives Came. Students had to complete at least four slides that included text and pictures on each slide. Once the assignment was completed, students presented their PowerPoint “books” to the class.
