Students get a charge out of question

Becky Holland

ELLAVILLE — Normally, it has been found, that teenagers and children are the ones who can ask THE questions that make adults stop and ponder, and sometimes blush.

Last Thursday, the tables were turned on four Schley County Middle/High School students when they were asked, “If you were a type of battery, i.e. A, AA, AAA, C, D ... etc. ... what type of battery would you be and why? Three of the students’ answers came back rather slowly, but the grins on their faces showed as they wrote their answers that they were very interested.

Lauren Tidd, 17, of Ellaville, is a senior, and her hope is to one day be a journalist. She said, “I believe I would be a AA battery because it is used for almost anything and is universal.”

Grace Wooten, 15, of Ellaville, and a sophomore at Schley County Middle/High School, who wants to be an actress, teacher and an orthodontist, said, “I would want to be a hearing aid battery. They are unique and different and can be hard to find. They make things louder as well.”

Tyler Young, also 15, and a resident of Plains, and a freshman at Schley County, said, “I am not sure what I want to be when I grow up, but probably a veterinarian.” As for the type of battery, he said, “I want to be an the Energizer AA battery because it keeps on going and going.”

There was a fourth student to answer, but to keep readers wondering, his/her answer won’t be revealed until Sunday in “Student Diaries.”

These three mentioned and the “secret student,” will be writing every Sunday a weekly report on their lives as high school students. A hint on the fourth is that he is tall, with light colored hair, a junior and has a unique first name.

If any teacher would like for the Times-Recorder to visit their school class for a question and answer time so that their students will be featured in the Friday feature “Kids Speak,” call 924-2751, ext. 1524 or e-mail becky.holland@gaflnews.com.
