Tabby Crabb to perform at Andersonville Historic Fair

ANDERSONVILLE — Tabby Crabb, local legend, will be autographing his 200-page book “Hometown Americus, Georgia,” which humorously discusses his growing-up years in Americus and also his eclectic adult life as musician, film and video producer, tugboat deckhand, teacher, movie extra and owner and operator of Flatwood Recording Studio in Lebanon, Tenn., at the Andersonville Historic Fair Saturday and Sunday.

His musical career took him to New Orleans in 1971, to play with a bluegrass and folk music band and with that band to Vietnam and Thailand for a USO tour entertaining U.S. enlisted men. Later, in Nashville, he worked with such country music notables as Mickey Gilley, Johnny Lee, Keith Urban and Naomi Judd and played piano and guitar on the road with the Urban Cowboy Band.

After 40 years on the road and in musical activities in and around Nashville, Tabby Crabb is back in Sumter County, Georgia and deep into his new career — writing. “Hometown Americus” is one of several of his books. He will be located on the main street of Andersonville, near the Wirz Monument, greeting friends — he never met a stranger — and autographing his book.
