Ellaville City Council member arrested
ELLAVILLE — Ellaville City Council member Patricia “Pat” Jones was arrested on Sept. 14 and charged with simple assault-family violence and was later released on bond, according to Ellaville Police Chief Mitchell Ellis. Police were called to 644 Spivey St. shortly after 1 p.m. that day in regards to a domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers met the complainant, Jones’ 19-year-old daughter, who stated that Jones assaulted her with a broom stick, hitting her on the legs, head and arms.
After investigation Jones was taken into custody.

The Sumter County Board of Commissioners has a special called meeting at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Board of Commissioners’ Board Room to discuss the approval of any contracts with any municipalities that have elected to contract with the Sumter County Board of Commissioners for providing fire and emergency services.
