Appreciates all the support for recent Adopt a Mile
I would just like to take this time to express my sincerest, although somewhat belated, appreciation to the many people who helped make the seminal Schley Count Adopt a Mile pickup a success.
From the very helpful staff at the Americus Times-Recorder, who covered the event before, during and after, to Officer Scott Nelson of the Schley County Sheriff's Office, who provided traffic safety and facilitated the use of a firing range, everyone approached unhesitatingly supported GeorgiaCarry.Org's goals for the day.
A few special words of thanks need to be given to Mr. John Monds and Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Turney.
Mr. Monds, the Libertarian Party gubernatorial candidate for Georgia's governorship, took time out of his busy schedule, donned his work duds and jumped right in with the rest of us picking up trash beside U.S. Highway 19 in Schley County. Following the pick-up he shared his opinions regarding some general issues facing our great state and on the specific issue of limiting government interference in the lives of taxpayers.
Mr. Chuck Turney of Lee County, Georgia, GeorgiaCarry.org's board member and fundraising chairman, along with his bride Faye, chose to celebrate at least a portion of their Sept. 19, 7th-year wedding anniversary by picking up other people's trash and spreading the word of the need to protect everyone's second amendment rights.
I would also like to say thank you to the management and staff of the Lil Red Barn in Ellaville and Ryan's of Americus for opening their doors and providing such wonderful service and food to the participants.
Finally, thank you to all the other participants: Chris Ammons of Plains, Chris Sanchez and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Jones, all of Columbus, Rudy Adams of Montezuma, Daniel Adams of Madison, Richard O'Hern of Americus and Luther Wilson and Walt Vasil of Ellaville.
