AMERICUS — The 10th annual Conservation Production Systems Training Conference is Feb. 2-3 at South Georgia Technical College. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The conference is sponsored by Seven Rivers RC&D.;
Scholarships are available to farmers on a first-come basis. The conference registration fee is $200 per person, excluding lodging, or $275 per person, which includes lodging. To register or for more information, contact Karen McBrayer at 229-386-3416 or at karensm@uga.edu.
This two-day conference is designed for farmers to discuss and learn from other farmers, USDA, UGA personnel and researchers in an interactive setting.
Topics to be covered include: increase in wildlife with whole farm conservation, cattle grazing, sod-based rotations and conservation tillage, how to manage cover crops, weeds in conservation tillage, carbon sequestration, carbon credits and carbon markets, Going Green: Conservation and Bioenergy, and an opportunity to tour the Caterpillar training facility.
