Authorities still searching for armed robbers
MONTEZUMA — Police are still searching for two armed men who robbed Montezuma’s Advance Auto on Wednesday of last week.
Because the suspects were wearing ski masks, no facial descriptions could be made.
There were no customers in the store at the time, around 7:45 p.m., but two employees were working, who were able to describe the suspects as tall, slender, black males, who drove away in a black Lexus 300 ES between the years of 1996 and 2000.
One suspect was described as between 5’10” and 6’ with a scar under his left eye who wore all black, while the second was described as 5’10” inches, more chunky and wore a black jacket and blue jeans.
The thieves got away with $800, after forcing the employees to the front of the store.
Neither of the employees were hurt.
Shelly Whitaker, spokesman for Advance Auto, confirmed neither employee was hurt, and said the employees are being offered counseling services.
“They cooperated with the robbers as we instruct our employees, and we’re glad neither were injured,” Whitaker said.
Although the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, the Oglethorpe Police Department and the Marshallville Police Department are investigating the incident, authorities are still unable to track down the culprits.
Montezuma Police Chief Eric Finch is still determined to track the suspects down.
“We’re still working the case, following leads and looking at suspects — we’re investigative mode,” Finch said. “There are no arrests as of yet, but we hope to make some soon.”
If you have any information concerning this case, contact the Montezuma Police Department at 478-472-6260, ext. 231 or ext. 233.
