AMERICUS —
South Georgia Technical College’s Purchasing Technician Gail Clary successfully completed the Georgia Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) state purchasing requirements for the Georgia Certified Purchasing Associate Certification (GCPA) recently.
This certification is designed to review fundamentals of the purchasing practice as well as basic understanding of the State of Georgia procurement tools, procedures, and administrative rules. Successful exam scores of seven different training courses are required to complete the Georgia Certified Purchasing Associate Certification.
Certification is a means to ensure that all procurement professionals have the necessary skills to perform their duties according to the state of Georgia law, administrative rules as outlined in the Georgia Procurement Manual, established workflow and procedures, and the appropriate use of the available tools and applications. Certification also provides a method to measure achievement and required attainment of purchasing competency. By completing the Georgia Procurement Certification Program, Clary has developed the appropriate skills for her job functions.
The Georgia Procurement Certification Program allows employees and their managers to plain training activities with a focus on specific career objectives. To receive certification, the employee must take and successfully pass each of the Certification Exams with a passing score of at least 80 points out of a possible 100 points. Certification is valid for five years and may be renewed at the end of the five year period.

She is married to Thurston Clary, and they reside in Americus. She has a son, Jason Wisham.
